Nokia is a Finnish multinational telecommunication, information technology, and consumer electronics company, founded in 1865. Nokia’s headquarters are in Espoo, in the greater Helsinki metropolitan area.
In today’s competitive environment it is hard to figure out what makes a budget phone cheap. Smartphone manufacturers are quick to introduce high-end flagship features in affordable phones that not only perform well but look great too. Motorola and Honor are two that have impressed us with the Moto G6 and the Honor 7X lately, but HMD Global has surprised us by introducing the new Nokia 6.1 which is the successor of last year’s Nokia 6.
It has excellent build quality, good looks, solid performance, and a capable camera. The Nokia 6.1 is light on extra features, but it nails the fundamentals, and that’s why we can say that it is a budget phone. To know the detailed information about Nokia 6.1 read this article thoroughly.
Nokia 6.1 Price:
The price of Nokia 6.1 is quite affordable if we know all the features and specification it has provided to the user. Its price is about $269 that is approximate Rs.16,000 which is not a big amount. You can easily afford this.
Nokia 6.1 Color:
Nokia 6.1 is available in the single color that is a mix of matte-black aluminum with copper trim.
Nokia 6.1 Design:
The Nokia 6.1 takes a lot of its design element from its predecessor. It’s an all-metal well-built smartphone yet the overall footprint of the smartphone is shorter as compared to the original Nokia 6.
The phone is comfortable to hold and can be used with one hand. The front of the smartphone is dominated by a 5.5-inch 16:9 full HD display. Above the display, there’s an earpiece followed by an 8MP front camera and Nokia logo.
The back of the phone has a 16MP camera with Zeiss badging and a dual tone LED flash. Below the camera, there’s a fingerprint scanner along with the Nokia and Android one logo.
The left side of the phone has a hybrid SIM slot, the right side has the volume buttons and the power button, which work absolutely fine. There is a 3.5mm headphone jack at the top and a Type-C USB port, Speakers and microphone at the bottom. Overall, the Nokia 6.1’s design doesn’t really take off but one can’t have too many complaints about it either.
Nokia 6.1 Display:
Talking about the display of Nokia 6.1 has the aspect display ratio of 16:9. The display of Nokia does a reasonably good job. The display is bright enough to be seen in a bright sunlight and the colors and saturation of the display are decent considering the price of the phone.
The 5.5-inch 1080p IPS LCD screen on the Nokia 6.1 is standard for this price range. But when a panel is as vibrant as the Nokia 6.1’s, that’s not necessarily a bad thing. The Nokia 6.1 doesn’t offer a plethora of alternate color profiles or settings, but its display quality strikes an excellent balance between being realistic and saturated.
Nokia 6.1 Performance:
Last year’s Nokia 6 with Snapdragon 430 SoC felt a little underpowered to us and it is a good news that Nokia chooses to equip a much capable Snapdragon 630 SoC with a clock speed of 2.2 GHz time which gave a 60% of the performance boost over its predecessor. The UI felt fast and there was no lag or jitter in the overall performance, the apps opened quickly and multitasking was fast as well, thanks to the 4GB of RAM that powers the smartphone.
As we all know it’s not a flagship phone the games took a little longer to open and for heavy games such as PUBG, we had to tone down the graphics to make the games playable. Still, we consider Nokia 6.1 as a strong performer. The call quality of the phone is really good, the callers sound was sufficiently loud and clear.
Nokia 6.1 Camera:
The Nokia 6.1 features a 16MP f2.0 rear camera which is the same module from the last year but now it uses a Zeiss optics and an 8MP f2.0 front camera sensor. Nokia has packed a bunch of interesting feature in the camera such as bothie, manual mode, HDR, 4K video recording, bokeh effect from the front camera and panorama mode.
The UI of the camera is simple and easy to use. Opening and clicking the picture from the camera app is quite speedy and there is no shutter lag while taking pictures. The rear camera takes surprisingly good images in well-lit conditions and the HDR features also did a great job in managing the shadows without making it look unnatural. Overall, the camera quality is fabulous in Nokia 6.1.
Nokia 6.1 Battery:
The smartphone is backed by a 3000mAh battery which does its job reasonably well. If the phone lasts for a full day in moderate to heavy usages then it’s safe to categorize the battery performance as acceptable.
The phone also supports fast charging and ships with a fast charger out of the box which allows you to charge the device from 0 to 100% in 90 minutes.
Nokia 6.1 Final Verdict:
Overall, Nokia 6.1 offers significant improvements over its predecessor in terms of performance, improved camera capabilities, fast charging support and Android One makes the things even better with it guaranteed software updates.
