Mumbai Had 1,675 Vehicles Per Kilometre in 2018-2019, Vehicle Density Up 35 Per Cent

In Mumbai, there have been 1,675 automobiles per kilometre in 2018-19. In 2016-17, it stood at 1,525/km, whereas in 2015-15 it was 1,410/km.

Mumbai’s roads have seen a 35 per cent rise within the automobile density over the past 5 years. The uptick has been seen as a result of roads of India’s monetary capital remaining below 2, 000 km for nearly a decade, reported Economic Times citing Maharashtra’s State’s Economic Survey offered within the meeting on Thursday.

The metropolis’s roads have 15 occasions increased variety of automobiles plying on them compared to Maharashtra’s total street connectivity. Mumbai has 1,900 variety of automobiles per kilometre, whereas the remainder of Maharashtra has 123 automobiles per kilometre.

The variety of automobiles within the metropolis stood at 38 lakh until January 1, 2020.
